Vatterott College Is Now Offering Electrical, Carpentry & Plumbing Workshops
Three new workshops are available to the public at the Vatterott College Quincy campus.

Vatterott College in Quincy announces the addition of three new workshops that are open to the public. Each workshop covers a different topic that relates to minor home improvement: light carpentry, electrical, plumbing. The classes cost $45 each, and are three hours long. Each class will be held on a Saturday in June from 9:00am to 12:00pm, and will be taught by an instructor from Vatterott’s professional staff.
Gateway Schedules Plumbing CEU Courses for May 2012
Florence, KY (April 5, 2012)—The Workforce Solutions Division of Gateway Community and Technical College has scheduled three continuing education courses for journeyman and master plumbers in May 2012.
The courses will take place on Saturday, May 19, at the college’s Boone Campus and will last 4 hours. The cost for each course is $60 with lunch is included in the registration fee. The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 19.
Participants must bring a photo ID and plumbing license(s) to class.
Lake Havasu Hot Water Supply Temperature Maintenance
The Lake Havasu City, AZ Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday 13 March at the Lake Havasu City Police Facility, 2360 McCulloch Blvd. one of the items on the agenda is Hot Water Supply Temperature Maintenance.
The City Council will be taking into consideration a new amendment that requires recirculation pumps on all newly installed hot water supply systems to maintain a temperature of at least 110 degrees.

Wisconsin Plumbing Licenses under Attack
Last week, Senate Bill 529 and Assembly Bill 645 were introduced and referred to the Assembly Natural Resources Committee and the Senate Committee on Financial Institutions and Rural Issues for consideration.

MN Plumbing Contractor Licensing Changes
Starting Jan. 1, 2012, DLI will license individuals and businesses that perform or offer to perform plumbing work, with or without compensation, as a licensed plumbing contractor or licensed restricted plumbing contractor.
Master plumbers and restricted master plumbers will no longer "hold" the license for a plumbing contractor, but rather will be the "responsible master" for the contractor.
Plumbers Explain Reasons for Hefty Regulations
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 500,000 plumbers across the country providing critical services that maintain and protect the nation's water supply.
Some service providers in larger cities, such as New York City, prefer to keep plumber licensing local due to the intricacies of the metropolitan infrastructure. But 44 states require plumbers to be licensed at the state level, which is the most practical.
Journeyman Plumber Exams
The Journeyman Plumber Exams are a group of state-specific examinations that are used to determine whether or not an individual possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a certified or licensed plumber at the journeyman level within a particular state.
The exams test the plumbers knowledge and understanding of federal plumbing codes and regulations, basic maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, and the installation of plumbing systems.
City Revokes License of Plumbing Company
The Williston City Commission has taken the unusual step of revoking the plumbers license of a local plumbing company that had been doing work in Williston, ND.
The City Commission voted unanimously to revoke ASP Mechanical's plumbers license to do work inside city limits. For several months now, the company had been reprimanded by the city for not filling out proper permits and other infractions.
